Family takes photo of “Ghost Children”

Does this photo show the ghost of two children nearly 60 years apart?

news.com.au – DOES this photograph show the figures of two children, born nearly a century apart, walking in their own paranormal playground?

The family who took this picture while on a ghost tour in Picton, NSW, swear there were no children inside the St Mark’s Cemetery.

Which begs the question: who, or what, is out there?

Local legend has it that the two children are David Shaw and Blanche Moon, who died 60 years apart.

Blanche was crushed to death in 1886 when a pile of sleepers that she and a number of children were playing on slipped.

David was the son of a minister who died in 1946 from polio.

The woman behind the lens of this mysterious photo, Renee English, said she was “a sceptic” before undertaking the ghost tour on January 9.

“When we were standing at the bank looking into the Cemetery I was just snapping away and making jokes about the whole thing and asking when the ghosts were going to come out,” the Port Macquarie resident said. [Full Article w/ Full Pic]

Eerie outpost unnerves US Marines with Lights and Whispers

timesonline.co.uk – The Marines found the bone as they scraped a shallow trench. Long, dry and unmistakably once part of a human leg, it was followed by others. They reburied most of them but also found bodies. Three of the graves were close together; in another was a skeleton still wearing a pair of glasses. The Marines covered the grave and told their successors to stay away from it.

Observation Point Rock sits a few hundred metres south east of Patrol Base Hassan Abad, where a company from 2/8 Marines has been stationed for the past seven months. It is a lonely and exposed outpost 20 metres (65ft) above the surrounding landscape, which has been in Nato hands since it was captured from the Taleban in 2008.

Groups of Marines are posted to guard it, usually for a couple of months at a time, and “the Rock” has acquired a peculiar reputation. American troops widely refer to it as “the haunted Observation Point”. [Full Article]

Ghost walks around Disneyland

This video taken of security camera monitors at Disneyland appears to show a ghost walking around on the grounds at night. What’s interesting is that the apparition is captured by multiple cameras, and it seems to walk right through closed gates and even across water. Some believe it to be the ghost of Walt Disney himself. Is it camera trickery or the real thing?

1891 Apparition in Chair

This famous ghost photograph was taken in 1891 by Sybell Corbett at
Combermere Abbey in Cheshire, England. It is believed to be of Lord
Combermere, who apparently returned to visit his library. The camera was set up in the library and left to record the area for about an hour. Older cameras took a while to record an image. When the photograph was developed, this image of a man appeared in the photo. Very few people were in the house when the picture was captured, as the Lord himself was being buried during this time. Had anyone entered the room and sat in the chair for a few minutes, an image like this would have been recorded. The family’s butler insisted that no one had entered the room.

The Borley Rectory Most Haunted House in England

Borley Rectory is often called “The most haunted house in England.” The site of the rectory originally held a monastery, which was inhabited by Benedictine monks. Subsequent to this, the monastery came under the ownership of the Waldergrave family, who occupied it for three centuries. In the late 1800’s a descendant of the Waldegraves, the reverend H.D.E. Bull, built a new rectory on the site of the old monastery. It was not until after the new rectory was built that strange things started to happen.

One of the spectres that was said to roam the grounds was a nun ho in the 13th century fell in love with and tried to elope with a monk.According to legend, the nun and monk were caught in their get-away horse and carriage. As punishment, the monk was hung and the nun was walled up alive in the rectory. Some people reported seeing the ghostly form of the horse and carriage in addition to the nun. The reverend Harry Bull, who died at Borley, also was reputed to have haunted the rectory. He would appear dressed in the grey jacket in which he passed away.

In the late 1920s, the house was owned by a reverend (Lionel A. Foyster) and his wife who reported poltergeist-like phenomena. Supposedly the prankish spirit locked the wife in the bedroom, and other times threw her out of the bed. There were also pebbles thrown at the windows, and mysterious writing which would appear on walls.

Harry Price, a famous ghost hunter, investigated Borley Rectory in 1929, and again in 1937. He supposedly witnessed some of the activity, including the ghostly nun. Although Price spent a great deal of time in the Rectory, his research is generally considered to be biased and therefore flawed.

Unfortunately, Borley Rectory burned down in 1939, taking its secrets with it. In 1945, human remains rumored to be those of the nun were found on the site, and were given a proper burial. But the legend of Borley has not died yet; people still visit the site today to see if they can spot the ghostly nun.
